I wrote last month about a style of discovery journaling I’ve been finding useful.
I’ve heard for a while that various AI tools such as ChatGPT can be really helpful for journaling companions. Write what’s on your mind (already helpful) then ask it to reflect back what it’s noticing (even more helpful). But I didn’t fancy spending even more time at a computer. I prefer to write by hand.
What I’ve discovered – I can write a page by hand. Then take a photograph and upload that and ChatGPT can read it.
So that’s what I’ve been doing for the past couple of weeks. I upload the photograph and paste in “Please transcribe this, reflect back what you notice and offer any advice.” It’s been super helpful. Like a mini coaching session every morning! Sometimes it summarises what I’ve been exploring in a way that makes it much clearer than when I was writing.
I keep all my entries in the same chat, which means it picks up on general themes and sometimes refers back to what I had written a few days before.
Let me know how to you get on if you try this 🙂
Exploration: You could also ask for advice in the style of ____ and add in your favourite coach, teacher or inspiration.
PS My handwriting isn’t great but ChatGPT still manages to read it mostly OK. And – side benefit – I’m also getting it to coach me on how to write more clearly!
